Nine To Five

I love to plan. It is one part of my job I enjoy a lot and that has caused me to develop an odd affection for Excel spreadsheets and timelines. This week I had a hard time concentrating on work since I  entered into hyper-planning mode for being a mommy. How can I put in more than 40 hours this week (believe me, I could work 60 and still need to catch-up!) when there is maternity leave, nursery items and baby storage space planning needed?

Not to ignore my new "need to plan", I took a break Wednesday to visit a great mommy I know in Chula Vista to get the baby registry going. What we thought would be a quick and dirty trip turned into a close to two-hour event. How long it could have been without her expert advice I cannot imagine. The registry is not complete though as I am still on the hunt for the perfect stroller and car seat combo, two items that are now on my frequently searched for items online.

An Excel spreadsheet has been birthed to plan the "baby budget" and to see what we can swing to take my maternity leave as close to the full 26 weeks available to me (for once, the state of California has legislation in place that is working in my favor!). I am also starting a to-do list of all the things I want to accomplish before December and plot out when they need to happen. Then there are closet organization items dancing in my head for Owen's room, but I should stop there, because I could go on and on. Planning and organization can make me giddy. Somehow though, despite all my beloved planning, I have a feeling I may find myself like Tina Fey this time next year when it is time to hit the nine to five schedule again as a mommy.

  1. I'm thinking you need a binder again, like you had in the move to OC. Then again, pinterest may be even better!
