Somehow pregnancy has motivated me to make some serious progress in a goal I have had for several years: To learn how to sew! Maybe it is because I finally have some great ideas to inspire me, or maybe it is just some sort of instinct kicking in. I'm sure there is a crafting instinct out there. For example, over the weekend I spent more than double the hours "recommended" for a bag and now I am on to my next project - a Sock Monkey for Owen.
Granted, I probably can pick this up at a store perfectly complete for the same price, or less, than the kit I picked up from Etsy. But, the satisfaction of making this myself will outweigh the time and cost savings (at least that is what I am telling myself). This project will require some hand and machine stitches and I can't wait to see if I can place the ears symmetrically or make sure the arms are the same length. The kit tells me I need an afternoon to complete this, so I'll be working on this over the next few weeks for sure! I do not think I can dedicate another weekend to a sewing project. The idea of making fun items for the little guy growing in my belly sure is exciting. The trick will be continuing this motivation after he's born!
You'll do great...just make sure you get those eyes on tight!
ReplyDeleteWell worth the effort trust me. Becca made a little blanket for Indie that she finished just minutes before her water broke and now that is her blanky. She always grabs it when its time for bed. Always brings back the memories of when she was pregnant and the night Indie decided it was time to introduce herself.
