May 2, 2011: Here was the first proof that my hunch just may be right! After a week of waiting for the ever faithful monthly visitor, and a week of Easter Break vacation fun in Santa Barbara (celebrating 12 years of marriage!) and San Diego, I woke up early, got dressed and headed to Target for a pregnancy test. I took the test in the bathroom there and the second pink line showed up straight away! Did I believe it? Not really. Look how faint it was!
So, just to be safe I passed on my grande Starbucks I was planning to get and headed home. Chris and I were going to drive to Oceanside to end our vacation with one more fun night away with friends. I had no intention to say anything to Chris until I was 100% sure. We had false alarms before and I did not want another one. My plan was to take a second test a few days latter. But, after reading the instructions about 100 times and checking out online photos of other tests that looked just like mine, I took another test before we left for Oceanside. It looked the same. This had to be a positive test!
How was I going to tell Chris? I thought it would be fun to do something memorable, but that would take way too much planning and would not happen soon enough for me. So, I walked out of the bathroom and told Chris, "Hey babe, so there is a pretty good chance, I mean it seems to be positive...we probably will not know for sure until we go to the doctors...but I think I'm pregnant!". One of the biggest smiles I've seen crossed Chris's face. It took about a week before we both took the test at it's word.
