| Trying an automatic shot with a cute 8 month old didn't allow all of us to look our best at the same time on Christmas day, so two pictures came from one! |
4th Day: Wednesday - I tagged along for a dinner out at the Haven Gastropub with Chris and Shea; two old childhood friends who always share some new story that reminds me I am perfectly happy with not knowing all the shenanigans Owen will get into someday. Dinner was delicious and I managed to break my plate while cutting into my flatbread pizza (super pregnancy strength?) and ended up with a completely new pizza to make up for my plate breaking fiasco. No complaints there! We ended dinner with a short walk around the block at the Orange circle, came home and drank some hot chocolate and called it a day.
3rd Day: Thursday - The LAST day of work until late June. The excitement still hasn't fully registered with me. I logged off at 2:30 for our second doctor's appointment of the week. Zero progress on the baby delivery front, but Owen is still doing well.
2nd Day: Friday - Ushering in a holiday weekend, we drove to San Juan Capistrano. Destination: The Regency Theater, for what I thought were tickets to the VIP theater with the most comfortable seats and waiter service. Turned out that theater was reserved for Girl With A Dragon Tattoo and we were there for Sherlock Holmes. Not getting the VIP theater was a disappointment, yes, but we still had fun and Owen seemed to enjoy the popcorn and loud soundtrack. Constant movement from the little guy for two hours. The trip wasn't a total bust. It was a beautiful day out and we enjoyed walking around and window shopping, then taking a sunset stroll around a park with our final destination before heading home - In N Out. Double double with fries. Priceless.
1st Day: Saturday - We had to forget we are on holiday for a bit and take care of errands and cleaning out my desk, since it will not be in use for the next six months. Christmas Eve could not be all work and no play though! We visited my brother and sister in law to drop off gifts for our nieces and visited for a while over some delicious chocolate chip cookies and milk. Wonderful night!
Christmas Day!!!! Chris and I were up past midnight prepping our home made cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. We have made the quest to find the perfect cinnamon roll recipe our Christmas tradition for the past 5 years or so. We finally have his Grandma's recipe, but it looked like it would yield a little too much for what we wanted, so we gave another recipe a shot. It was a success, paired with a delicious breakfast casserole that we enjoyed with my parents, brother, niece and her cute little guy. Once the party was over, Chris and I challenged each other to two games of Carcassonne. We each won once.
Owen is now one day past his due date and I still can't imagine we are making any progress. But, another doctor visit is scheduled for tomorrow, so we will see! This afternoon we are off for a walk - getting out and about to stay busy and enjoy our holiday.
I will pray for you guys! He seems to have a mind of his own already! lol Keep hydrated and enjoy these final moments before you begin the journey of parenting!
